76 lakes, rivers and streams of the Salzkammergut offer sailing, surfing, boarding, water-skiing, diving and a lot of "water fun" or those who like to fish and enjoy the peace can enjoy their caves, rivers and lakes.

Spechtensee / Wörschachwald

The lake, which is surrounded by a highmoor and lies at an altitude of about 1050 m, has a depth of up to 11 meters. In the summer it reaches a water heating up to 23 degrees.

Odensee / Pichl-Kainisch

The lake at 780 m above sea level and a maximum depth of 19 m is a typical forest bog lake surrounded by dense forest and a lush beach vegetation.

6 lakes on the Tauplitzalm

The Tauplitzalm, the largest lake plateau in Central Europe, with its 6 lakes (Krallersee - Lake Constance - Lake Märchensee - Lake Tauplitz - Lake Styria - Schwarzensee) surrounded by a very rare alpine flora, an incredible backdrop.


This lake is located in Altaussee, in the heart of the Styrian Salzkammergut. A beautiful circular trail leads along the 2.9 km long and 1.1 km wide lake, framed by foothills of the Totengebirge in the north, east and partly also in the south.


The wonderfully situated Grundlsee is known for its mostly excellent visibility and its fish richness. At the Grundlsee you can use publicly accessible beaches, romantic bays or a naturist beach -

The lake Toplitzsee, easy to reach from Grundlsee / Gössl, and the idyllic boat trip to the Kammersee lake, which is situated behind, are also worth a visit.
